Oregon Tech introduces new online certificates in writing, ethics, business, and technology with aim to enhance professional skills

Klamath Falls, Oregon – To meet the changing needs of today’s students, Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech) is launching a selection of new online professional certifications. Twelve new certificates in three main categories—writing; social, cultural, and ethical; business and technology—are being added by the university’s Online Learning campus.

Reflecting a national trend, this growth responds to a notable increase in demand for specialized online education.

“This new suite of online certificate offerings will support these student communities and expand Oregon Tech’s reach to include students who are not looking for a full degree program,” said Oregon Tech’s Dean of Online Learning and Global Engagement Ruth Claire Black, Ed.D..

Designed to be easily available and adaptable, the credentials allow one to finish each degree in just three academic years—six classes. This framework is meant to serve students who might not be looking for a whole degree but nevertheless want to improve their professional abilities and knowledge in particular fields.

Among the writing-oriented certificates are UX Writing, Technical and Medical Writing, Health Communication, Proposal and Grant Writing. These courses are designed for people who want to improve their knowledge in several types of professional communication, which is essential in the knowledge-driven companies today.

Social, cultural, and ethical issues include Ethics, Cultural Competency, and Social Determinants of Health certificates. These courses especially fit the growing focus on ethical behavior and corporate social responsibility across several industries.

The business and technology certificates cover essential skills and knowledge in areas such as Business Management Essentials, Business Systems and Management, Geographic Information Systems, Management Information Systems, and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems. Included also is a recently relaunched certificate in Global Leadership and Management Essentials to offer ideas on good leadership in a world going more and more global.

Prospective students interested in these programs can apply via Oregon Tech’s Non-Degree Seeking application process, which is simplified without application cost and free of stringent admission requirements. This strategy creates chances for more candidates, including those not ready to commit to a full degree program.
